Lake of the Hills is a 400+ lot residential community located in the gently rolling hills of Western Desoto County Mississippi. It is about 4 miles from the unincorporated area of Eudora, Mississippi. It was first developed in the 1960's and has a 185 acre lake that is fully stocked with Bass, Bream, Catfish and Crappie. The community also boasts a Club House and Pavillion area that is open to all Lake Members use.
It is approximately 18 miles south of Southaven, Mississippi which is one of the fastest growing suburban areas in Mississippi. The Desoto County Seat of Hernando lies just 14 miles east of Lake of the Hills.
The community has an active Lake Association whose By Laws and Covenents govern all construction/building on the lake and maintenance of community common areas including the dam. The members of the community hold elections every September to elect a Board of Directors who manage day to day operational needs, and enforces Rules and Regulations as voted by members that govern such things as size of motors on boats on the lake to minimum square footage of houses. (For details see Rules and Regulations section) There is also a Lake Patrol which monitors the lake on a regular basis made of up community members.
While our lake is well known for its abundant fish life and family boating via pontoon boats we are also near several other large Corp of Engineer Lakes which boast excellent fishing and boating activities for those interested in skiing, jet skis, etc.--Arkabutla Lake (3 miles away) and Sardis Lake (35 miles away) are the two closest.
